The Cluster Challenges

Competitiveness clusters affect competition in three broad ways: first, by increasing the productivity of companies based in the area; second, by driving the direction and pace of innovation; and third, by stimulating the formation of new businesses within the cluster.

Regarding SYSTEM@TIC PARIS-REGION, three kinds of economic consequences are expected :

  • The Paris Region will become more appealingby promoting its image of excellence and attracting new competences and investors
  • Thanks to the experimentation - prior to widespread implementation - of the new services, the Paris Region will become a local market for its inhabitant. This local market is also expected to become a showcase for foreigners: it will attract capital and will help export the patents derived from the R&D projects.
  • Jobs protection, development and creation:

    • Direct effects: The R&D projects employ highly-qualified labour. Approximately 1,350 researchers/year are directly involved in the Cluster’s projects.
    • Indirect effects: About 3,000 persons/year are expected to work in the R&D projects.

As a reminder, 320,000 employees work in the technological fields covered by the Cluster (apart from employees in public R&D) including:250,000 in services and 70,000 in industry.
