Inspection reliability is one of the key issues in ensuring safety of critical structural components.
Strong efforts have been conducted in order to determine the reliability of Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) methods that are designed to detect flaws in such components.
The SISTAE project addresses inspection evaluation using probabilistic criteria in fields such as aeronautics, the maritime sector and the nuclear power industry.
This project aims at reducing the time and cost of the analyses that are required to determine quantities such as POD (Probability of Detection) curves.
A method based on existing NDE simulation tools is developed in order to replace some of the experimental data used in statistical studies with simulation results.
