Free & Open Source Software, a fast growing industry

The software and IT services industry is expe-riencing a period of tremendous change, with a 40% compound annual growth rate over the next years for open source-related turnover and tens of new businesses created every year in the Paris Region alone. It has also been pre¬dicted by analysts such as Gartner that in 2012, if not before, 80% of all software pro¬duced worldwide will include significant open source components.

  • 91 partners including : 58 SMEs - 12 Large companies - 21 Research institutes and universities
  • Total Investment: 105 M€

The goals of the FOSS (Free & Open Source Software) Working Group are:

  • to federate all the actors in the Paris Region, promot-ing a healthy and prosperous industry for open source in partnership with the world of education and re¬search
  • to promote the development of innovative software which will take advantage of scientific advances in the Paris Region.
