Research and Innovation for Transport Systems of the Future
In order to carry out the missions entrusted to them by the state, the clusters must:
- promote technological innovation,
- provide the link between research and its industrial applications,
- support the development of new technologies.
This
is the context in which the ASTech Paris Region cluster is organising a
Symposium on 13-15 November 2012. The aim of that event is to highlight
the commonalities between the cross-cutting skills and technologies
covered by the various clusters. The transport sector must be able
within the 20 to 30 year-horizon to meet the economic, social and
environmental challenges of sustainable development. The priorities
defined by the Grenelle Environment Forum have been incorporated into
France's research and innovation strategy at national level. Above and
beyond its own programmes, French research is involved in many
international cooperation projects.
Other European nations
apply the same approach as France, based on plans drawn up in
consultation with the European authorities. For European governments,
transport is and must remain an area of excellence and technological
innovation, serving the demands of the environment, energy, safety,
sustainability, performance of network operations, information of
travellers and the organisation of multimodal services: it is a driving
force for technological innovation.
